The Seeds of Liberty
Thanksgiving at Valeo Academy is a time of celebration, family, fellowship, and drama! Each year, the Biblical and historical roots of Thanksgiving come alive. Grades 5-12 perform "The Story of Liberty" - an original Valeo Academy drama, spotlighting the men and women of God who sowed the seeds of liberty that birthed God's ultimate purpose for this nation. Before George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin, there were Martin Luther, John Whycliffe, and William Tyndale. Hear their prayers, see their faith and perseverance as they live out God's principles that formed this nation. In addition, Grades K-4 perform songs, poetry, and short skits that celebrate the themes and historical figures that contributed to the founding of America.
After the performance, parents, students, staff, and visitors, come together for fellowship and a full Thanksgiving dinner - complete with turkey, stuffing, and all the traditional Thanksgiving trimmings!
Individuality of Nations
It's Christmas around the world every December at Valeo Academy, as Valeo students choose a nation and study how that nation celebrates Christmas. In this Epcot®-style event, visitors travel "around the world" - with I.O.N. passports in hand - and experience the history, culture, Christmas traditions, and food of various nations, such as Italy, Switzerland, Greece, China, Australia, Cuba, Brazil, Iraq, Argentina, Denmark, Africa, Russia, and more! With vivid and colorful displays, costumes, delcious food, insightful presentations, and the singing of Christmas carols in the lobby, visitors are sure to enjoy this Christmas tradition at Valeo Academy. By the end of the evening, visitors leave with fully stamped I.O.N. passports, full stomachs, and an awakening to Christmas as it is celebrated around the world!
Science Fair Open House
Rockets, bridges, food energy, and walking on water. These are some of the experiments you may find at the annual Valeo Academy Science Fair. God's nature and character is revealed through His created universe and the laws that govern it; and Valeo students demonstrate that character as they showcase their experiments in biology, chemistry, botany, physics, and engineering. Refreshments are served.
Shakespeare Festival
The lights are positioned. The cameras are on. The sound is checked. The stage is set. The actors are ready. And the audience awaits the start of the most eagerly anticipated, thoroughly enjoyable, and professionally produced event of the year - Valeo Academy's Shakespeare Festival.
This fully staged and costumed production has become the signature event for Valeo Academy and the surrounding community. The evening begins with delicious food in a Renaissance-style setting. Guests make their way down the castle corridor, sampling various hors d'oeuvres and desserts, and soaking in the atmosphere in preparation for the performance, which takes place in the 3000-seat auditorium of Life Changers International Church.
For the performance, students grades Kindergarten through High School study, rehearse, and perform scenes from a variety of Shakespeare's plays. Using the original text, students make Shakespeare come alive with humor, drama, and delight! The highlight of the performance is the high school production - a condensed version of an entire Shakspeare play. With works such as Much Ado about Nothing, Twelfth Night and As You Like It, Valeo Academy's Shakespeare Festival is a theatrical experince you are certain to enjoy and will never forget!
